might say that Diane K. Bartley was destined to be a chef because
she was almost born in front of her parents' oven, which, incidentally,
now resides in the kitchen of her Coffee Shoppe! Born and raised in
Greenville, Maine, she left for a brief time to earn a degree in business
from the University of Southern Maine in 1987. Upon realizing that
the corporate business world was not for her, she went to Johnson
& Wales in Providence, Rhode Island to pursue her culinary dreams.
With an associate degree in culinary arts, she went on to earn a degree
in food services education while being employed as a teaching assistant
at Johnson & Wales. Upon returning to Greenville in April of 1991,
her plan was to apply for a teaching job for the following year. Instead
she bought an old Victorian house and has spent the past 12 years
building her business: DKB - Di's Kitchen & Beyond. |
